Where ancient Rome was located effected it because the township was built on very low ground. The low ground made it difficult for growing crops and keeping them alive. That's why it was hard for people to come and live there when the town was not fully developed yet. The town was not isolated from other countries because of the low ground making it more visible to other countries. This made it difficult to protect themselves from other countries. In war times the city had to be fully prepared so they do not get attacked and ruin the whole city.Rome was located near many areas of water such as the Mediterranean sea. Also Tyrrhenian, Ionian, and Adriatic Seas and Tiber and Po rivers, and Lakes Trasimeno and Como. The sea was one of the main exports and imports for the town. The sea helped them sell their products and create money for the town to buy food for the building and crops. When trading and ships were down it was hard for the town to survive with the lack of food. Rome was also located near some mountains such as the Quirinal, Capitoline, Palatine, Esquiline, Aventine, Caelian, and the Viminal hills.
